In de periode 2000 – 2004 werkte hij als algemeen practicus in groepspraktijken in Amersfoort, Amsterdam en Haarlem. Van 2003 tot 2004 was hij tevens werkzaam in de Praktijk voor Parodontologie in Tilburg. In 2007 voltooide Aart zijn Master of Science opleiding Parodontologie aan het ACTA. Voor erkenning in 2007 door de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Parodontologie volgde Aart stage in De Paro Praktijk Utrecht. Hij verrichte voornamelijk onderzoek naar het gebruik van de Nd:YAG laser bij initiële parodontale therapie. Onmiddellijk daarna startte hij aan dezelfde universiteit zijn Msc-opleiding in de Parodontologie, die hij in 2001 voltooide. Tot 2004 werkte hij als consulent en wetenschappelijk onderzoeker aan de KU Leuven. Hij verrichtte voornamelijk onderzoek naar halitose, botregeneratie en initiële parodontale therapie. Hij is auteur en co-auteur van verschillende gerefereerde nationale en internationale publicaties. 
Sinds 2003 is Pieter werkzaam in de Praktijk voor Parodontologie en Implantologie Breda, waar hij zijn stage volgde voor erkenning door de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Parodontologie. Deze erkenning kreeg hij in 2004. Zijn erkenning als implantoloog bij de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Orale Implantologie behaalde Pieter in 2007.
